“Hello, I will be teaching you how to make a kerchief (scarf) similar to the one I have on now. These were used by my mother, my grandmother, when I was younger — it was used to tidy up their hair so that it would not fall into the food.
They would wear it somewhat like this in order to push their hair back, and so it wouldn’t fall into the food.
Therefore, I am going to tell you how to roughly make it.
Begin by roughly cutting it by your desired width and length, keeping in mind that it will be wrapped around just how I have it on, but you can wrap it however you would like to.
We then use the width side of the cloth, we are going to fold it on the back, not along the side which has the colored cloth — the stamp.
We are then going to fold it and place needles to hold it in place – this type of needle was used back in the day, it was used alongside a dedal (thimble) so that the needle would not pierce your finger as you sew, because we will be sewing by hand.
Now with the scissors we are going to turn it around — because I sewed it along its rear — now we are going to flip it back to its front side.
And just like that, you have yourself a kerchief (scarf).
Then, easily, I wrap it around like so, give it a twirl, and tie it off.”
