Abstract Mind – workshop with Edith Zapata

A skill-share workshop where observation becomes inspiration.
Edith Zapata, (bio below) our Cherry Street Pier studio neighbor, brings us a custom workshop: Abstract Mind –
Develop an understanding of your visual preferences in everyday life. Experiment with techniques that will translate your surroundings into abstract art.
Through guided observation and reflection, you will explore how your personal “image map” is formed both consciously and unconsciously by the visual choices you make daily.
The goal is to slow down the pace of everyday life, creating space for intentional observation and presence. Through this process, you can strengthen your connection to your surroundings, enhance environmental awareness, and cultivate a more mindful and meaningful relationship with the visual world.
You’ll walk away with personal artwork that translates, through abstraction, the intimate and subjective perception of your own environment.
**No technical skills are required. Paint and mark-making materials will be provided; you are also welcome to bring your own supplies.
*You can also opt to bring printed images of your visual preferences, preferably of your own surroundings.
