Penny Candy Store installation

Video Installation This installation is based on a construction known as the videola. which was developed at the National Center for Experiments in television in 1973. Starting in 1977 at Artpark NY, Alan Powell introduced a live camera into the construction to allow audience participation. The installation was recommissioned by the University of Buffalo art Gallery in 2010 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Artpark and displayed at Artpark in 2013. The piece was reconstructed for the surveillance show by Termitetv in 2014 at Voxpopuli gallery. The piece consists of a live surveillance camera hanging over a monitor behind 4 trapezoid mirrors. The video image is reflected into a sphere shape giving the illusion of a planet.
