DESCRIPTION:Join Artists-in-Residence\, Test Patterns\, at the Termite TV Collective Studio at Cherry Street Pier on Friday\, June 6 for public offerings of workshops learning basic techniques of video synthesis & play with vintage and circuit-bend gear.  \nAbout Test Patterns Named after the geometric shapes transmitted by early television stations to test their broadcast quality\, Test Patterns is an experiment in form. The project pairs video art with live performances representing a range of artistic mediums\, building on the lineage of experimental video art and bringing it to new audiences. \nBios:\nNia Benjamin is a Black\, queer\, multidisciplinary artist\, a projection/installation/video designer\, a director of experimental theater\, and the co-artistic director/co-founder of Ninth Planet. Well known on the experimental electronic music scene\, Chaka Benson uses modular and video synthesis to capture his aesthetic as informed by Philadelphia’s streets\, raw soul\, and DIY spirit. Blush Something is a musician\, performer\, video artist\, and organizer living in West Philly. Her work centers on education\, collaboration\, and connection across communities. Gralin Hughes\, Jr. (aka Television Sky) is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of sound and visuals\, merging these forms through projection mapping\, audio/visual live performance\, and installation art. Sarah Milinksi is a queer/non-binary multidisciplinary artist\, educator\, and designer based in West Philadelphia\, With over a decade of experience in community media education. These five artists are the core collaborators and organizers of Test Patterns\, an experimental video art television show and educational project aimed at preserving\, expanding\, and challenging the uses and possibilities of video art and synthesis.
