SUMMARY:Mending Video Exhibition at Cherry Street Pier
DESCRIPTION:About the show: Over 9 weeks\, 23 media artists from Termite TV & PhillyCAM created 18 short films reflecting on the theme of “Mending.”  In Termite’s unique “collage show” format; we collaboratively select a theme\, and participating video artists create 1- to 5-minute pieces that relate to the theme. Through this format\, we can approach a topic or concept with many different voices and perspectives.  This Termite methodology has been described as “video jazz” and “cubist television.” The exhibit also features work created in a series of workshops where artists explored the Mending theme through sewing\, photo embroidery\, and various painting experiences including botanical watercolors\, mixing watercolor and oil pastel\, and learning to abstract our perspectives through observation and mixed media. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this exhibition\, artists reframe mending as a profound emotional and spiritual architecture. DESCRIPTION:El Jardín de La Música y El Espíritu \nScribe Video Center’s North Philadelphia History Festival: John Coletrane Edition \nAnula Shetty and Michael Kuetemeyer of Termite TV are working in collaboration with Iris Brown of the Norris Square Neighborhood Project to install a series of augmented reality artworks at Las Parcelas Garden.\nCo-created with local residents\, these stories explore Bomba and Plena\, two deeply spiritual Afro-Puerto Rican musical traditions born from the need to honor ancestors\, survive hardship\, and resist colonialism. This installation is part of «Places of Power: Las Parcelas\,\, a community-based\, immersive AR/VR project by Termite TV.
